About Us
NY State's First and only special needs dance showcase
Beats was founded in 2017 by Kate Martelle when she saw a void in the special needs community. Kate has been raising her autistic nephew for 15 years and is a professionally trained dancer. When she started a special needs dance class in hopes of going to Special Olympics she soon found out there wasn't a dance category. After some research she realized there was no place for special needs dancers to come together and show their passion for dance. Thus Beats was born. We have more than doubled our number of performers in 1 year. Join us for our 3rd Annual Showcase on April 27, 2019 in Wellsville, NY.
Perform
Bring your students to perform in our statewide showcase. Spots are available for your already choreographed group numbers, solos and duets. Each performer will receive a medal at the end of the show.
Free Event
Beats is free for all performers as well as the audience! We are a 501(C)(3) non profit organization that works solely on donations and sponsorship.
